Audit Committee
The Audit Committee is a Standing Committee of Council. Council shall appoint one member to the committee that is a resident or member of the business community. (BCO § 121.14)
Architectural Board of Review
The function of the Architectural Board of Review shall be to preserve and protect the public health, safety and welfare by maintaining the high character of community development and protecting the real estate and its value in the city from impairment or reduction of value by regulating, according to architectural principles, the design, use of materials, finished grade lines and orientation of all new buildings, and by assuring that the appearance and aesthetics of building exteriors reasonably conform to city standards found in the area of the proposed building or addition to an existing building. Board of Tax Review
The function of the Board of Tax Review shall be to assemble when an appeal has been made after the Tax Administrator has issued an assessment. (BCO §193.21)
Charter Review Commission
The function of the Charter Review Commission shall be to conduct a comprehensive and thorough review of the city's Charter. The Commission shall be permitted to consider all proposed amendments and revisions submitted to it by the city administration, Council and residents. During its deliberations and before making any recommendations, the Commission shall keep the best interest of the City of Beachwood and its residents as a priority. The Commission shall conduct its meetings in compliance with the Open Meetings Act of the State of Ohio. The next Charter Review should commence on or about September 1, 2027. Civil Service Commission
The function of the Civil Service Commission shall be to prepare and administer tests and develops rules and procedures for hiring and promoting Civil Service employees in the police and fire divisions. (Beachwood City Charter)
Community Improvement Corporation
The function of the CIC shall be to serve as the city's agency for industrial, commercial, distribution and research development activities within the city's municipal boundaries. (Beachwood Ordinance No. 2020-50)
Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council
The function of the Community Reinvestment Area Council shall be to make an annual inspection of the properties within the designate CRA district for which an exemption has been granted under Section 3735.67 of the ORC. (Beachwood Ordinance No. 2018-36)
Planning and Zoning Commission
The functions of the Planning and Zoning Commission shall include making recommendations to Council and the Mayor on matters affecting the plan, design, location, removal, relocation, and alteration of any public buildings or structure or those located on public streets or property; the location, relocation, widening, extension, and vacation of streets, parkways, playgrounds and other public places; the approval of plats for the subdivision of land; the zoning of the city for any lawful purpose and such other powers as are now or may hereafter be conferred upon it by Ordinance of the Council or the general laws of Ohio. Records Commission
The functions of the Records Commission shall be to provide rules for the retention and disposal of records of the city and to review one-time records disposal (RC-1 forms) and schedules of records retention and disposition (RC-2 forms) submitted by City offices. (BCO §167.02)
