6:30-8:30 PM: Tonight, the Beachwood branch (25501 Shaker Blvd.) of the Cuyahoga County Public Library presents “The Unimaginable Journey of Peter Ertel,” the award-winning documentary by local producer, director Joseph Cahn. This film won the 2017 Cleveland International Film Festival Local Heroes Competition. Learn more and register online for this free event

7:00 PM: Leonard Bernstein strove for social justice and broke barriers throughout his career, notably by hiring African-American actors and conductors for the 1944 musical “On The Town” at a time when segregation pervaded American life. In celebration of Black History Month, join the Maltz Museum (2929 Richmond Rd.) for an enlightening panel discussion about race and representation in the arts, the history of African-American theatre organizations in Northeast Ohio, and their impact on communities today. Learn more and register online

THURSDAY, February 20
Artwork by 85 students representing 22 high schools is on display through Sunday, March 1 at the Beachwood Community Center (25225 Fairmount Blvd.). Beachwood students in the show are Abby Adams, Shannon O’Neil, Yana Sakhanovych, and Haeun Shim. Cleveland Heights High School senior Zoe Burns won first place for her metal and clay sculpture “Poverty Kills.” Excel TECC Studio Art & Design senior Jon Jackson won second place for his drawing “Bloys and Grills,” and Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School junior Josh Gordon won third place for his digital photo print “Descent.” BHS senior Haeun Shim won an honorable mention for her pencil artwork “Portrait with Words.” Come see it at the Beachwood Community Center Art Gallery through March 1.

10:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Neue Auctions (23533 Mercantile Rd., Ste. 119) hosts an auction preview weekdays from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM through today. 5:00 – 7:00 PM: Beachwood students and their families are invited to Family Fun Night in the Auxiliary Gym at Beachwood High School. Music performances, inflatables, more! Beachwood students only, please. Stay for the basketball game after 6:30 with admission fee.

SATURDAY, February 22
4:00 – 7:00 PM: The Microsoft Store (Beachwood Place, 26300 Cedar Rd. #1410) is proud to host weekly League of Legends Tournaments as part of Intel Game Night. Players will be playing on one of ten high powered ASUS ROG gaming laptops and compete in a single elimination bracket. SUNDAY, February 23
Noon – 4:00 PM: Families and friends are invited to attend a Beachwood Schools Foundation fundraiser and celebration of the Arthur S. Gugick Memorial Scholarship. Children and adults of all ages will enjoy hands-on LEGO play, movies, art projects, crafts, and cookie decorating. See pieces from Arthur Gugick's collection and take part in a community art project completed under the leadership of local master builder, E.J. Bocan. Tickets for this fundraiser are available online

MONDAY, February 24
7:00 PM: The public is invited to the BHS Auditorium for a Community Feedback Update, where board members and administrators will present feedback from stakeholder interviews and listening sessions, along with responses. Also, the Noetic Math Contest awards will be given to nearly 100 elementary students AND there will be a cup-stacking demo from five students before they attend this year’s National Cup Stacking Tournament. Wow!

TUESDAY, February 25

Artwork created by residents across the Menorah Park campus will be on display in Auditorium C today through February 27 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
