Beachwood Boredom-Busters: Special Wednesday Edition (7/3/19)

This year, our new Block Party Trailer (pictured) holds all the supplies you need to have a fun and comfortable street fest, and my office can help you organize your party, deliver supplies to your home,White trailer with colorful logo that says Beachwood Block Party close your street, and even arrange for special guests. As of this writing, every weekend in July is available, every weekend in August is booked (except Saturday, Aug. 31), and many weekends in September and October are available. THURSDAY, JULY 4

The Beachwood Family Aquatic Center is open today for Lap Swim from 9:00 to 10:45 AM and for Open Swim from 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM (weather permitting). City Hall is closed on Thursday, July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. The regularly scheduled Thursday rubbish & recycling collection will take place on Friday, July 5.

FRIDAY, JULY 5

5:00 PM: The Beachwood Place Microsoft Store will be hosting an ASUS ROG Arena: Fortnite Fridays Tournament every Friday in July, beginning July 5.  Join your local Fortnite community and test your skills in a tournament for prizes! Free for all players and all skill levels are welcome.  Pre-register and then it’s first-come, first-served.

: Every Saturday in July, join us at the Pavilion at City Park East for a free yoga class from 11:00 AM - noon with Julie Konrad of Luna Presence Yoga. Bring a chair, mat or towel.  All programs meet in the Pavilion of City Park West, near the Richmond Road and Shaker Blvd. intersection. Please call 216-292-1970 for more info. Rain or shine and perfect for all ages, these free and open to the public classes are presented in conjunction with the Beachwood Historical Society, City of Beachwood, and Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. 

SUNDAY, JULY 7

10:00 AM: Tai chi classes will be held every Sunday in July with Jennifer Stepien. See location for the Saturday yoga class for more info. These free & open to the public classes are presented in conjunction with the Beachwood Historical Society, City of Beachwood, and Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.

12:30 PM – 5:00 PM: Wear makeup? Stop into Aveda Beachwood Place and try fresh summer looks for lips and eyebrows. They will demonstrated new lip colors and brow pencils to find your perfect match for everyday wear or summer soirees. Grab a ticket for a complimentary make up lesson.  (On Saturday, July 6, this same location is offering free jade-roller facials – check it out!)

Abstract art that resembles a sunset1:00 PM – 2:30 PM: The People, Places, and Things art exhibit, which features the works of Polina Yavorsky and Bob Pohm, is at the Beachwood Community Center this month.  Enjoy light refreshments at the Artists’ Reception (1:00 – 2:30) while speaking to the artists and viewing beautiful artwork. Free & open to the public.

TUESDAY, JULY 9

3:30 PM: Will Dory be found? Find out at the Beachwood Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library at today’s Family Summer Cinema featuring the film “Finding Dory.” Register online for this free & fun family afternoon at the movies

6:30 PM: Come on out to the Beachwood Family Aquatic Center for an Outdoor Summer Concert with The Jam Machine, performing Classics of the ’60s and ’70s, ’80s pop, and today’s hits! Free & open to the public. Inclement weather location: Beachwood Community Center.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10

7:00 PM: Interplay Jewish Theatre performs a theatrical staged reading of “Another Way Home” by Anna Ziegler. Visit the Maltz Museum and enjoy a funny, moving and ultimately uplifting play from one of America’s most talented young writers. Developed at the National Playwrights’ Conference and recipient of the Edgerton New American Play Award, “Another Way Home” has been described as a “laugh-packed serio-comedy that shoves family life under a microscope.” One night only: register now! (Included with general admission – suggested $5 donation)

6:30 PM: Indoor Summer Concert featuring The Kalos String Quartet. Enjoy the melodious sounds of Kimia Ghaderi & Sarah Page, violins; Anna Gerber, viola; Rebecca Shasberger, cello. This free & open to the public concert is brought to you in cooperation with the Cleveland International Piano Competition Arts Connect.
