[ARCHIVED] Beachwood Boredom-Busters: June 7 Edition

The original item was published from June 7, 2019 10:54 AM to January 3, 2022 12:41 PM

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day in the City of Beachwood. Every day, 100 Americans are killed by gun violence. Typically each month at least 52 women are shot and killed by an intimate partner. On average there are nearly 13,00 gun homicides in the United States. I am proud to be a member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. We should all renew our commitment to reduce gun violence and pledge to do all we can to keep firearms out of the wrong hands.

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. Beachwood is home to the Cleveland-area chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, which is preparing a massive awareness and fundraising program on June 21, the longest day of the year. Mark your calendars now to participate in a yoga class at Cleveland Yoga & Barre (3737 Park East Dr., Ste. 209) at 4:30 PM to benefit programs and research by the Alzheimer’s Association!

If you’re interested in learning more about your own memory, you may schedule a free assessment with the Menorah Park Center 4 Brain Health. To reserve an appointment, call Katherine Teague at 216-831-6500 ext. 193. They will assess your memory, share the results with you and make recommendations.
