BFAC 2006 045We expect to see hundreds of Beachwood residents at the Beachwood Family Aquatic Center for opening day tomorrow (weather permitting). This is one of my favorite days in this community as residents gather to celebrate the informal kick-off to summer with pure and simple fun at one of the most amenity-filled pools in Northeast Ohio.

Residents of all ages take advantage of the center’s many offerings. Lap swimmers enjoy the eight 25m lanes, while children splash among the sprinklers and spray grounds. The zero-depth entry makes it easier for residents with limited mobility, while the tot pools offers a safe spot for our tiniest members. Our five water slides are always a hit for all ages.

This year marks the 14th season for the $5 million Beachwood Family Aquatic Center. This state-of-the-art aquatic center has served as a tremendous resource for our community, welcoming an average of nearly 54,000 visitors every summer.

The facility will be open for the holiday weekend on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It will be closed the following week, but re-open Saturday, June 3 for the full season which runs daily through August 15 and on weekends through September 4.

Resident membership rates are very reasonable. This year, we are also offering a further reduced rate for seniors at just $25 a season. You may purchase your membership in advance of opening at City Hall, or at the Beachwood Family Aquatic Center when it’s open this weekend. Please don’t forget proof of residency.
