The City of Beachwood is taking steps to make sure the city shines when guests arrive for the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Cleveland, June 18-21. For the first time in 80 years, Cleveland is hosting a national political convention that will put northeast Ohio in the national spotlight.  This sizeable, highly public affair will mean visitors in our hotels, restaurants and shops, and yes even our roadways.

The City has been working on a few things to greet the thousands of guests expected to stay in Beachwood and celebrate in this historic event for our region.

Flags and Banners
A total of 102 welcome flags will line Chagrin, Richmond and Cedar Roads offering a warm greeting to our guests as they come into town. With nine (9) hotels offering more than 1500 combined rooms, our main thoroughfares will be bustling. In addition to the flags, welcome banners are also up in front of City Hall.

Buttons
More than 7,500 welcome buttons were created for City employees, hotel staff, restaurants and others as another way to warmly greet and honor our guests. I believe our warm, friendly residents and workers will represent our City very well as they always do.  If you are interested in picking up a button for yourself, call City Hall 216-292-1970 or the Beachwood Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) at 216-378-9333 (while supplies last).

Beachwood Pocket Guide
A newly-created, highly resourceful pocket guide allows visitors to easily glance to find a map and listing of our hotels, restaurants, parks and other places of note. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for our thousands of visitors to find a local place of business. This useful piece will serve as a resource for RNC guests but will also carry a useful shelf life far beyond the convention.  Additional copies are available at City Hall or the Beachwood Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Welcome Bags
We partnered with Beachwood Convention and Visitors Bureau and our nine hotels so each guest will receive a welcome bag in their hotel room. This bag will include the pocket guide referenced above as well as a Beachwood Visitors Guide, a Beachwood Chamber Magazine, a coupon for the Maltz Museum and a small variety of other materials and goodies highlighting the City. The bag will also include the RNC edition of Cleveland Magazine, in which Beachwood is showcased on pages 9 and 10.

I hope you will join me in welcoming our guests with the same warmth we treat our fellow community members. I have immense pride in this city, and I am certain our guests will leave here to tell their family and friends how impressed they were during their stay.
