acquatic18.JPGWhile we got a small teaser over Memorial Day weekend, today the Beachwood Family Aquatic Center officially opens for the season.

Since we built the $5 million facility in 2003, I have watched hundreds excitedly approach this special day which seems to informally kickoff the summer in Beachwood. Residents of all ages show up with smiles to dip their toes, dive in or simply play/connect with friends.

This state-of-the-art aquatic center has served as a tremendous resource for our community, last year alone welcoming 50,000 visitors throughout the 97-day season. It has served as a vibrant summer gathering place offering something for everyone.

Lap swimmers can take advantage of one of the eight 25m lanes, while children splash among the sprinklers and spray grounds. The zero-depth entry makes it easier for residents with limited mobility, while the tot pools offers entertainment for our tiniest members. And I think almost everyone has enjoyed a turn on one of the five water slides.

I am extremely proud of this wonderful resource for the joy and connections it makes in this community. I hope to see many of you at the pool this summer.
