Income Tax Facts
- Taxes are collected by R.I.T.A. Income tax forms are available
at
www.ritaohio.com.
- Tax Rate is 2.0% (effective January 1, 2011)
- 100% credit for residents working in another municipality
- Tax based on earned income
- Dividends, pensions and interest are not taxed
Property Tax
- Rate established by city is 4 mills
- (4 mills = $4/$1000 of assessed value)
- County auditor establishes market value
- assessed value = 35% of market value
- Values are updated every 3 years
- All property is re-evaluated every 6 years
- City portion of the tax rate has not increased in more
than 10 years
- Questions, call the county auditor’s office
Requirements to Qualify for Homestead Exemption
- Age 65 and older, or permanently and totally disabled
under age 65
- Surviving spouse of Homestead recipient, age 59-64
- Total annual income of applicant and spouse is $23,000
- Own and reside in home or manufactured home as of Jan.
1st in year of application
- First Monday in June is deadline to apply
Automatic Tax Credits
- 2.5% credit for owner occupied property
- 10% rollback credit for owner occupied property
