Oil/Gas Well Drilling

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has approved a permit from the PEP Drilling, to drill an oil/gas well in Beachwood at the Bet Olam Cemetary located at 25796 Chagrin Boulevard. The specific location of the drilling site is 350 feet off Richmond Road and 800 feet north of Hotel Drive. The drilling operation continues 24 hours/day until the project is completed which is 8-10 days from the start. ODNR is the state agency who regulates and governs all aspects of this project. On October 21, 2007, ODNR issued a permit to PEP Drilling as they have compiled with all state laws, notifications and means/methods of the drilling operation. The City of Beachwood has no authority to regulate any portion of the approval process including where and when the drilling occurs or any other issues that arise from this project.
