Beachwood Police and Fire Departments Obtain Accreditation
Status
Mayor Merle S. Gorden honored the Beachwood Police and
Fire Departments for having received accreditations from
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
(CALEA) and The Commission on Fire Accreditation International
(CFAI).
Police Chief Mark Sechrist explained how his Beachwood
Police Department (BPD), under
leadership of Lt. Mark Zuzek and Dispatcher Joie Gilchrist,
gained accredited status by complying with 446 standards,
of which they were 100% compliant. BPD is one of four accredited
agencies in Northeast Ohio and 1 of 54 accredited agencies
in the state.
Fire Chief Patrick Kearns explained how his Fire
Department,
under the leadership of Captain William Peskura and Firefighter
Anthony Strazzo, obtained accredited status by meeting
254 performance indicators in 10 categories and being credible
in every one. Beachwood Fire is one of two accredited departments
in Northeast Ohio and one of six accredited fire departments
in the State.
