My neighbor's dog barks all the time. What can I do?

Per Ordinance 618.07 "No person shall keep or harbor with the City any dog which by barking, biting, howling, or in any way or manner injures or disturbs quiet of any other person, or which destroys or damages any other person's lawn, tree, shrub, plant, building or other property."

Should you have a neighbor that has a dog that is in violation of any of the above, contact the Beachwood Police Department at (216) 464-2343.

What time can an outside party go till at night?

Midnight, as long as there are no complaints.

What are the curfews for children/teenagers in Beachwood?

Per Ordinance 648.11 (a) "No child twelve or under shall be upon the streets or sidewalks during the period from darkness to dawn, and no child between the ages of twelve and sixteen shall be on the streets or sidewalks between the hours of 11:00 pm and 6:00 am, and no child between the ages of sixteen and eighteen shall not be on the streets or sidewalks between 12:00 am and 6:00 am., unless accompanied by a parent or guardian or some responsible person over the age of twenty-one years." Is overnight street parking allowed on City streets?

Parking is not allowed on Beachwood streets between 3:00 am and 6:00 am. If you have an overnight visitor who must park on the street, notify the Police Department.

I have rusty water. What do I do?

Turn on the cold water in one sink until it runs clear, which will take approximately five to ten minutes. If brown water has affected your laundry, please call the Fire Department at (216) 292-1965 for a box of rust remover. "Rust" is usually caused from Hydrant Flushing in your area.

Are fireworks permitted in Beachwood?

Fireworks not authorized by the City are prohibited.

Who operates the indoor pool at the High School?

The Board of Education operates the indoor pool. They can be contacted at (216) 464-2600.

How do I register for Recreation programs?

You may register in person or by phone (216) 292-1970 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. By Fax Machine, 24-hours a day at (216) 292-1976 (with Credit Card Payment information). Or place registration form in Community Services Drop-in-Box any time of the day or night, which is located right outside the entrance to City Hall. How do I register for Senior Programs?

You may register in person or by phone (216) 595-3733 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Or place registration form in our Drop-in-Box any time of the day or night, which is located right outside the entrance to City Hall. Is there an ordinance requiring owner's to clean-up after their pets?

Yes, Ordinance 618.12 (d)..."Where the owner, keeper or harborer of such animal immediately removes all feces deposited by such animal and disposes of same in a sanitary manner, such nuisance shall be considered abated."

Do I need a permit to hold a garage sale?

Yes, permits may be purchased at the Building Department from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Contact the Building Department at (216) 292-1914 for additional information.

Do I need a bicycle license?

Yes, the City requires a one-time license and registration for all bicycles. Bring serial number and make and model information to the Police Department to receive your complimentary license.

Does Beachwood have a bicycle helmet law?

Yes, the City requires any person under the age of 16 to wear a protective helmet with fastened chin strap. This applies to both the operator and the passenger.

What is the regulation for grass height before it has to be cut?

Grass has a maximum of eight inches (Ordinance 1319.10 (g)). Weeds have a maximum of twelve inches (Ordinance 660.16).

What about paint, pesticides, fertilizers, sealers, drain openers, and other chemicals? Can I place them at the curb for pick up with my regular rubbish?

No, all these items are considered Hazardous Materials. Many of these are dangerous to place out with your regular rubbish, and cannot be placed in the landfill. In order to accommodate these requests, the Beachwood Service Department offers Hazardous Material Round-Ups. Contact the Service Department at (216) 292-1922 for further information.

What do I do with my yard brush?

Beginning Monday, September 1, 2003, the Public Service Department will offer one (1) brush pickup per week. Any and all brush to be picked up by the City shall be placed on the tree lawn between the hours of 7:30 a.m. the day of your rubbish collection and 7:30 a.m. the following day. These rules are governed under City Ordinance 660.21.

Are there time restraints on construction activities?

No one shall engage in construction of activities, such as hammering, pounding, grinding or grading, so as to create objectionable or unreasonable noise or a disturbance to neighbors in the City between the hours of 7:00 pm and 7:00 am or on Sundays or official holidays.
